This is a statuette of the Virgin and Child in gilt bronze made in Siena in the second quarter of the 15th century. This statuette is in the style of Jacopo della Quercia. The Virgin stands with the Child seated on her left arm and holding a flower in her right hand. The moulded base, perhaps of slightly later date, has four claw feet with acanthus leaves at the corner. In front of the base, there is a small appliqué figure of St. John the Baptist holding the lamb.
