This medal was struck to commemorate the coronation of King William III in April 1689. King William is represented with his bust facing to the right, in armour and wearing long hair and a mantle.

William III (1650-1702) was born Prince of Orange. From 1689 onwards he reigned as King William III over England and Ireland, and as King William II over Scotland. He jointly ruled with his wife, Mary II, until her death in 1694.

Medal depicts on the obverse: bust to the right of King William III, laureate, long hair, in armour with lion's head on shoulder and mantle and the inscription: GVILIELMVS REX ANGEL. SCOT. FRANC. ET. HYBERN. and below is the second inscription: PATRIE DECVS ANGLIAE PRAESIDIVM.
On the reverse: the garter / belt, entwined by branches and decorated with the coats of arms of England, Scotland, France and Ireland. And the inscription: GVILIELM PRINCEPS AVRIACVS ANGLIAE. SCOTIAE. FRANCIAE ET HIBERNIAE REX CORONATVR d. 21 apr (all within the garter). On the edge: .REGIA CREDE MIHI, RES EST, SUCCURRERE LAPSIS FK (Fredrich Kleinert).
