Print from a set of caricatures, broadsheets and illustrations in ten volumes. Each volume is half-bound in red leather, gold tooled and stamped with imperial emblems, title etc.

Aged 14 the Prince Imperial underwent his baptism of fire on 2 August at Saarbrucken, where, from weak German advance troops France gained her one, insignificant victory of the campaign. He is shown clutching the Prussian bullet he is said to have picked up as a souvenir.

| Historical context | Aged 14 the Prince Imperial underwent his baptism of fire on 2 August at Saarbrucken, where from weak German advance troops France gained her one, insignificant victory of the campaign. He is shown clutching the Prussian bullet he is said to have picked up as a souvenir. Shortly after the battle he was sent to the safety of England, where he continued his education. He was killed when he took part in an English expedition against the Zulus. |
