Physical description

carved and joined beech with caned back and seat; baluster legs at front joined by carved cross-rail with scrolling and voluted decoration; front legs tenoned up into front seat rail, back stiles as one, side and back seat rails tenoned into back stiles (square section at bottom half, then baluster up to the top); top and bottom rails tenoned into stiles, stiles of seat back tenoned into rails; side seat rails and side stretchers are tenoned and pegged to the legs; caned back and seat - no evidence of upholstery; plain stretchers, seat back stiles have saw marks.
