This is a silver medal made by Bennett, signed and dated 1792. The obverse shows the bust of the Prince of Wales, while the reverse depicts the story of King Alfred and St. Cuthbert.
In the story, King Alfred shared his bread with a pilgrim, who was revealed to be St. Cuthbert. The nigh following, a figure in a Bishop's habit appeared to the King and charged him to love God, keep justice and be merciful to poor men and reverence priests.
