This is an electrotype plaque of silvered copper which shows a shepherdess standing beneath a tree knitting. On the left the flocks are grazing in a landscape. In the bottom left hand corner is the inscription LANIGERIS. LANOEQVE INTENTA. (Intent on the sheep and the wool). It is the work of Louis Oscar Roty, the leading French medallist of the late nineteenth century.
