The obverse of a silvered bronze medal, showing a portrait bust of Sir J.Pope Hennessy. Pope Hennessy was a British politician and colonial administrator who served as the 8th Governor of Hong Kong from 1877 to 1882. This medal is the work of Louis Oscar Roty, the leading French medallist of the late nineteenth century.
