This is the obverse of a bronze medal which was struck from a die, and silvered. It shows two draped females, symbolizing America and France, accompanied by a nude winged figure emblematical of Liberty, seated in a boat; in the distance are boats and a representation of the Statue of Liberty by Auguste Bartholdi, in New York Harbour. This medal is the work of Oscar Louis Roty, the leading French medallist of the late nineteenth century.
