Jug, of soft-paste porcelain painted in enamels and gilded, pear-shaped with an expanding neck, projecting lip, and a scrolled loop handle; on one side is a lady seated reading beneath a tree, with a gentleman playing a flute standing before her, and a dog lying on the ground at his feet; on the other side is a lady, also sitting beneath a tree, and standing by her knee is a little boy who holds a crested bird perched on his left hand; the figures are wearing 18th century dress; on the front are sprays of flowers and a butterfly, and round the rim is a border of Chinese character in red and gold
