Figure group, of soft-paste porcelain painted in enamels, of a naked boy on a galloping horse with a dog; he sits on a lion's skin thrown over the horse's back; they are supported on an oblong base with rounded ends, on which are applied flowers and foliage

Previously attributed to Longton Hall. The model is copied from a seventeenth century bronze of Cupid galloping on horseback attributed to Francesco Fanelli, who was active in England ca. 1610-42 (Arthur Lane, English Porcelain Figures of the Eighteenth Century, 1961, pp. 38 and 117 and pl. 81B)
