Bettagno, Disegni di una collezione Veneziana del settecento (exhibition catalogue), Giorgio Cini Foundation, Venice, 1966, p. SI, no. 45 Formerly ascribed to Conca, following the Dyce Catalogue. But since the old attribution to Giordano recorded on the mount accords well with his style, there is no reason to take the drawing away from him. Two other drawings that demonstrate the same rapid and summary method of sketching in washes are in the British Museum, reproduced in O. Ferrari, 'Drawings by Luca Giordano in the British Museum' in The Burlington Magazine, 108, 1966, p. 302, figs. 34 and 35
