7th century (made)
Artist/Maker
Place of origin

Figure of a Central Asiatic, buff-white earthenware covered with an overall greenish straw-coloured glaze. The figure stands with the hands clasped in front and a hole suggests that he originally held a weapon or symbol of office. The costume is composed of a long robe and baggy trousers, and a seemingly thick winter coat, with a collar, which is slung over the shoulders, open at the neck and sleeves hanging loose at the sides. The figure wears a hood style head-dress with flaps extending over the ears and back of the neck.
