This medal is made by the French medallist Henry Nocq in 1902 and depicts the bust of the poet and novelist Anatole France.

Anatole France born as the son of a bookseller became a poet, journalist, and novelist. He was especially successful as novelist, writing several best-sellers.
He was a member of the Académie Française, and won the Nobel Prize for Literature.

Henry Nocq (1868- 1944), was a sculptor and medallist and one of the most qualified representatives of modern French Art. He studied under Chapu, and first began to exhibit at the Paris Salon in 1887.

Physical description
Medal depicts on the obverse: Anatole France. Bust to the right. On the reverse: A dressmakers dummy flanked by the arms of Florence on the right and on the left by a patriarchal cross voided, from which a dagger is suspended. There is a pearl border on either side.
