Image of the folk hero Gogaji on his horse. One figure of the groom, who holds the trappings and smokes a nargila, standing. Deified heroes are frequently revered by both Hindus and Muslims in village society. Gogaji (or Gogadev) is especially associated with snake worship.
The image probably represents the folk hero Gogaji Chauhan of Bhatinda who dies in battle against Mahmud of Ghazni in the Punjab (see pl.62 and p.118 of K.C.Aryan ' Folk Bronzes of N.W.India' Delhi).
