This is a bronze medal made in England, around 1814. The obverse of this medal represents a figure of Religion holding a cross and standing by an altar inscribed with the names of Peninsular victories. By her side there is a rose, a shamrock, and a thistle. The exergue is inscribed "Thanksgiving. Jan. 13, 1814." The reverse of this medal shows the inscription "Let us give glory unto the Lord, and declare His praise in the islands" between branches.

At the end of 1813 Wellington's Peninsular forces had successfully pushed the french army out of Spain, crossing the Pyrenees to fight the war on French soil.
