Details of the plinth of the Idolino, Uffizi Gallery, Florence. The ancient bronze statue known as the Idolino was discovered in 1530. Its sixteenth-century bronze base was much admired by eighteenth-century visitors to the Uffizi, who ascribed it to Ghiberti. It is now in the Museo Archeologico in Florence.
