This istrian stone corbel is carved with volutes, egg and tongue ornament and astragal bands. There is a panel beneath which is carved in low relief with a lozenge outline by scrolls and a rosette enclosed within an oval compartment.

A corbel is a piece of stone jutting out of a wall, used to carry any superincumbent weight such as a balconies, or a small arcade.
