This is a silvered electrotype medallion made in the 19th century. This medallion was copied from the original signed "T. Wyon, junr." The original was struck for presentation to the Indian chiefs who had assisted the British Government in the war with America, but the reverse die having broken, and there not being time to engrave another, the royal arms were substituted. The obverse of this medallion represents the profile bust of King George III. The reverse shows Britannia giving a medal to a Red Indian chief, and the date MDCCCXIV.
