For this packaging the wood engavings by artist Jonathan Mercer (born 1958) were considerably enlarged and the design wrapped around the box. The client felt that black and white stood out on the supermarket shelf; also wood engraving conveyed the idea of natural foods with no additives. Another example is at E.750-1994.

In the foreground there is an array of food and drink laid out on the ground including; a bottle of red wine and a glass; a bowl of black olives some of which have spilled onto the floor; some bread in a paper bag; two tomatoes. |
