In 1979, Simpson's, the London department store in Piccadilly that sold men's wear designed and made by S. Simpson Ltd, held an exhibition of designs for day and evening wear by 25 leading British designers. With the generous agreement of the designers involved, Simpson's decided to offer the entire show to the Museum. Adel Rootstein and Richard Hopkins gave the collection of mannequins featured in the show. This design by Wendy Dagworthy combines the finest quality wools into an elegant, yet practical day outfit.

Physical description
This ensemble uses a variety of top quality wools. The chic black and white is punctuated by the red of the soft suede belt. The slim threequarter length coat has deep pockets, but particular interest lies in the cut of the sleeves (full at the top, narrowing at the wrists), and in the broad padded shoulders which are reminiscent of the 1940s.
Accessorised with felt hat, leather gloves and red suede belt. Silk handkerchief, leather shoes. Full set of faux pearl jewellery, including necklaces, bracelets, earrings and hatpin.
