Object history
This delightful work was bought from the artist in 1848 by Richard Ellison, who was De Wint's most constant patron from about 1835. De Wint was a regular visitor to Ellison's home at Sudbrooke Holme, Lincolnshire, and the highest recorded price the artist received for a painting, 105, was paid by Ellison for Lincoln Cathedral (cat.no. 104).
