Circular plate of porcelain with nineteen portrait cartoons on the flange in black enamel over an orange ground, and the portraits are separated by signatures, and on the well of the plate is a face painted in red, orange and black enamels on a white ground with the left eye containing the word 'New', the right with 'faces', the nose forms the word 'of' and the mouth with '56', and 'Merry Christmas' is in red enamel above the face and there are two signatures, 'Leonard Sillman' and 'John Roberts', below the face.
