This is a silvered electrotype medal made in the 19th century. This medal was copied from the 18th century English original given by the Government of the island for services against the Caribs. The obverse of this medal represents the profile head in relief of King George III., "Georgius III. M. B. Rex." The reverse shows Britannia giving an olive branch to a suppliant, and the legend "Peace and Prosperity to St. Vincents. MDCCLXXIII."

Historical context
Saint Vincent is a volcanic island in the Caribbean, the largest island of the chain called Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, between Saint Lucia and Grenada. The territory was disputed between France and the Britain in the 18th century, before being ceded to the British in 1783.
