This ancient Roman marble column is carved with six bands of ornament. The square base, rising to a circle is carved with leaves and is surmounted by a band of acanthus. The next band consists of ivy leaves after which comes a fluted band surmounted by a narrow bands in a anthemion pattern. The two upper bands are carved with leaves, berries and imbrications.
