Object history
Walter Gropius was one of the most
influential architects and designers of
the modern movement. Born in Germany,
he came to Britain as an émigré in 1934,
and moved to the USA in 1937. His tea
set has an elegant profile, yet contains
many functionalist elements. The design remains in production.
