This is a gilt electrotype copy badge made in the 19th century. This badge was copied from the Chinese original given by the Emperor of China to Brevet-Major Gordon, R. E., commanding the Anglo-Chinese army employed in suppressing the Taiping rebellion, 1863. This badge is an embossed medallion with a red stone in the centre, and with yellow tassels and ribbon.
