This is a gilt electrotype copy badge made in the 19th century. This medal was copied from the Chinese original given by the Emperor of China to Captain Rhoderick Dew, R. N., for services against the taeping rebels at Ningpo in 1862. This badge is an embossed medallion, with rotating ball of blued crystal in the centre. This badge also has a yellow ribbon and tassels.
