This is a gilt electrotype medal made in the 19th century, in England. This medal was copied from the 18th century original. The obverse of this medal represents King George II presenting a medal to a man kneeling. The reverse shows English ships burning five Spanish galleys.

Historical context
The original medal was awarded to Captain Callis, who in June 1742, in the fireship 'Duke' entered St. Tropez harbour and burnt five Spanish galleys at anchor. For this action he was promoted and awarded a gold medal and chain by King George II.
