Object history | Given by the late Jas.W.Fleming, F.R.C.S.E., Surgeon- Major 4th R.I.D Guards. Historical significance: One of a number of medals struck during the reign of Charles II to commemorate naval victories over the Dutch and awarded to naval officers for their conduct in battle. This medal was struck in silver and is considered to be one of the finest executed medals of the period. |
