WARP: cream wool; Z2S; 20 threads per inch (76 per dm).

WEFT: light brown wool; unable to ascertain spin and ply in the pile areas but in the plain weave end it is Z spun, unplied with 2 parallel threads per shoot; 1 shoot after each row of knots; 22 knots per inch (86 per dm).

PILE: wool and cotton; 7 colours: dark red, light red, dark green, green, dark blue, brown, white cotton; asymmetrical knot open to the right and tied around 2 threads; 220 knots per sq. inch (3268 per sq. dm).

SIDE FINISH: missing; a cotton cord has been attached at a later date.

END FINISH: Lower: 4 cms. plain weave remains with a row of symmetrical jufti knots which would have formed a fringe. Upper: cut across the pile with cotton cord attached later.

DESIGN: Field: dark red ground with three rows of three guls and two rows of stars.

Border (on three sides): rectangles containing lozenges.
