This is a crystal vase made in the 16th century in Italy. The vase is in the form of a fish; the fins and tail of the fish are engraved and enamelled with gold, the eyes are rubies. The circular foot and stem also are engraved crystal mounted in chased and enamelled gold; the upper portion is in the form of bulrushes, the lower portion is pierced foliage.
