This is an ivory medallion, carved in relief, in ca. 1670-80 in France. It is by an unknown artist but perhaps after Jean Mauger. The relief represents King Louis XIV (1638-1715; R: 1643-1715) and the image may well derive from a medal, such as that commemorating the conquests of Louis XIV in Holland by Jean Mauger (1648-1722) dating from 1672.
