Velvet blouson jacket and hipster trousers. The jacket, in royal purple velvet, has revers of rainbow velvet and is lined with synthetic jersey in a dramatic bargello-style stripe in green, purple, orange, lavender and red. It buttons with brass buttons from a Canadian Navy dress uniform. The trousers are in a screen-printed rainbow spectrum velvet, with wide self fabric belt loops and a fly zipper. The outfit is accompanied by a tube of synthetic jersey worn as a scarf in the same rainbow spectrum design.

Object history
The donor, Ben Stagg, had this ensemble specially made for him by Marijke Koger and Simon Postuma, and wore it to numerous parties and social events at the time, where he mixed with a wide range of pop musicians, singers and celebrities of the day. This suit is said to have attracted the especial attention of the singer Dionne Warwick to its wearer's charms!
