Physical description

Dark green and orange wool tweed day dress and jacket, dress made to give illusion of a green tweed short-sleeved blouse with an orange pinafore overdress in form of inverted T, with green buttons arranged down orange part of bodice in double-breasted form. Jacket in orange tweed with cuffs and shawl collar in mole fur dyed green. Matching beret also in green-dyed mole fur.

Object history note

Worn by the donor's mother in law, Mrs E.D. Guinness, who lived with Norman Hartnell and was a close personal friend of his. He made all her clothes, although she rarely wore the evening gowns.
