Pink silk georgette evening dress with iridescent colour-matching beads, flowing overtunic with assymetrical hem rather shorter in front than back, sleeveless. Pink silk shoes to match, also beaded, and pink satin gloves

Object history note

Worn by the donor's mother in law, Mrs E.D. Guinness, who lived with Norman Hartnell and was a close personal friend of his. He made all her clothes, although she rarely wore the evening gowns.
