WARP: cream wool; Z2S; 17 threads per inch (63 per dm).

WEFT: cream wool; unable to ascertain spin and twist in the knotted parts, but it is Z spun, unplied in the plain weave end; 2 shoots after every row of knots; 19 knots per inch (72 per dm).

PILE: wool; 6 colours: dark red, red, light red, dark blue, brown, cream plus green and blue in the fringe; asymmetrical knot open to the right and tied around 2 threads; 161 knots per sq. inch (2268 per sq. dm).

SIDE FINISH: 2 cords overcast with red wool.

END FINISH: Lower: symmetrical jufti knots, which would have formed a fringe, and then 2.5 cms. plain weave. Upper: 2.5 cm. plain weave with a row of blue knots and some blue weft immediately after the pile ends; turned and stitched in place.

DESIGN: Field: three rows of four rectangles each containing a stepped and hooked cross on a quartered ground: top left and bottom right quarters are blue and the other two are red (alternately dark red or red); the rectangles within a grid composed of a single line of florets.

Main border: geometric design based on diamond and half octagon. Lower horizontal border is recessed on either side.

Inner and outer borders are as in field grid.
