Jina Rishabhanatha

8th century (made)
Place of origin

Stone relief, the top part missing, showing a figure of a naked Jina, now headless, cross-legged in meditation. The ends of locks of long hair can be seen on the shoulders. The figures has a srivatsa mark on the chest. On the cloth on which he sits, where it drapes over the throne, is a small carving of a bull, cognizance of the Jina Rishabhanatha. Under the throne are two lions. On the right (proper) of the Jina is an attendant with hips flexed, the head and upper left arm missing, probably a chauri bearer. There are traces of a similar figure on the left of the Jina. Below the chauri bearer on the Jina's right is a male figure with a halo and a bull's head, the yaksha Gomukha. Below the remains of the chauri bearer on the Jina's left hand is a female figure with a halo, the yakshi Cakreshvari.
