This is a silver medal made by Otto Hamerani in Rome, Italy in 1736. The obverse of the medal represents the bust to the right of Pope Clement XII, and the reverse shows the fountain of Trevi in Rome.
The Hamerani's were an important family of coin engravers and medallists of Bavarian origin. The medals are notable especially for their historical value documenting Rome and its monuments at that time.
Johan Andreas Hamerani (b Adensburg, c. 1600; d Livorno, 1644), also a medallist arrived in Rome in 1615. Alberto Hamerani (b Rome, 1620; d Rome, 1677), his son, worked for a short time at the mint of Massa Carrara, then, between 1657 and 1669, in Rome, as assistant first to Gaspare Morone Mola and later to Girolamo Lucenti. Otto Hamerani lived from 1694 to 1768 and was the grandson of Alberto Hamerani.
