This vase has a flared mouth, with the body divided by vertical ribs and grooves into panels. It has black-and-white inlaid decoration under a celadon glaze. The pattern features a string of chrysanthemums on each panel, a band of lotus petals around the foot and small circles around the shoulder. Curvilinear cloud patterns alternate with strings of chrysanthemums on the neck. Part of the mouth has been replaced with gold lacquer, and there is some glaze degradation at the foot.

This vase dates from the 13th century. Ceramic production of the Koryo dynasty (918-1392) is characterised by celadon wares, which are stonewares covered with a light bluish-greenish glaze.
