Figure of America, from a set of Continents, in soft-paste porcelain painted in enames and gilded. The figure of a little girl stoands on a circular mound, formed by pierced scrollwork. She wears a loin cloth on which are feathers and has the attributes of America's indigenous, Aboriginal peoples. She is wearing a head-dress of feathers and holds a bow in one hand and two arrows in the other. She stands with one foot on a caiman, a reptile resembling a crocodile, found in central America. The side of the mound is inscribed AMERICA, in gilding.
