The figure, in carved, painted and gilded wood, represents a saint holding a book in his left hand and a stone in his right. The figures has a flat back which has been hollowed out and appears to have originally formed part of an altarpiece. Its style suggests it might be of Venetian origin.

Statuette. A Deacon Saint, St Stephen? Figure in carved, painted and gilded wood. The Saint is shown seated in full face wearing an alb, amice and dalmatic, with a book in his left hand. The flesh parts are painted naturalistically, and the vestments and book are gilt. The three-sided base has been stripped of paint.
