Place of origin |
This whitte marble relief depicts a group of putti playing with a ram. One cupid holds the ram's head, while another hoists his companion on to the ram's back. Though attributed to Joseph Nollekens on acquisition it seems instead that this work dates from about 1761 and is the work of William Collins or perhaps Henry Cheere.
Collins (1721-1793) was apprenticed to Henry Cheere, and was also a close neighbour and friend of John Cheere.
