This statuette in white marble depicts Cupid running holding his quiver above his head in his left hand, and treading an arrow under his foot. The statue is in the style of the French sculptor Edme Bouchardon (1698-1762). Bouchardon was Court sculptor to Louis XV from 1736 and executed a number of portrait busts, as well as many groups and statuettes of classical subjects.
