Artist/Maker
Place of origin

This plotter drawing is by an unknown artist, and was created using a computer and a pen plotter device.

The German text at the right hand side says: "Der Mangel an mathematischer Bildung gibt sich durch nichts so auffallend zu erkennen wie durch maßlose Schärfe im Zahlenrechnen." This is a quotation from Carl Friedrich Gauss (1777-1855), the mathematician who made a major contribution to number theory. The apparently random arrangement of numbers at the left hand side of the image may refer to a maethematical concept known as "Gaussian distribution".
