These labels were designed for products to be sold at the Duchess of Devonshire's country house, Chatsworth in Derbyshire

Physical description

Four proofs of labels for Duchess of Devonshire's sauces in a red and black card presentation folder, protected by melinex flap. The labels are; Recurrent jelly with whole fruit, Cumberland sauce with port, Mayonnaise with fine herbs, and Apple mint jelly. Each features a colour illustration relating to the Devonshire estate; the house and a deer, a pig and part of the house, a bridge and man fishing, a horned sheep with the house in the background. Each has a decorative border on either side, featuring a fish, acorn, apple, leaves and berries and a blue shape resembling a river in abstract form. The labels are shaped in the basic form of a rectangle with 'cupola' shape top centre, and with a wing on either side in yellow to hold the text of the ingredients.
