This marble bust of a middle aged man with short hair, pointed beard and moustache is of Domenico Fontana, a Swiss born Italian architect of the late Renaissance. He wears a mantle open in front over a close robe buttoned down the front and tied round the waist with a narrow sash. Inside the collar is a close pleasted ruff. He wears round he neck, a long chain of four strands held by a medal tucked into his robe.
