This terracotta stautette, representing Saint Sebastian, is made by the Master of the David and St. John Statuettes in Florence in the first half of the 15th century.

The Master of the David and St. John Statuettes is a name assigned by scholars to the artists (there were at least two) who created a series of small sculptures on these and other biblical themes.

Saint Sebastian is represented naked in full-length on a shallow naturalistic base, with hands behind his back, bound to a tree trunk.
There are five holes in the neck, chest, abdomen and left thigh for the insertion of arrows
