This statuette, representing Saint Joseph is made in the style of Giovanni della Robbia, in Florence, in the late fifteenth century to early sixteenth century.
The statuette was previously fully pigmented in imitation of Della Robbia glaze, with a yellow cloak, dark red tunic and green base. This paint surface dating from the nineteenth century, was removed (1959), revealing a brown outer garment with a dark green lining, a blue tunic with a white collar and a dark brown base. This present pigmentation seems to date from the seventeenth or eighteenth century.
