Dish of tin-glazed earthenware painted in colours. Wide sloping rim, deep well and recessed base. The painted decoration is confined to the rim and shows an undulating border of stylised tulips, rosettes and lilies with an oval wreath containing the name and date 'Stefanus Rigo / 1707'.

Object history
A similarly decorated plate illustrated in Painting (see Refs) is described as 'Haban showing Swiss influence'. It is dated 1660.
In Krisztinkovich (see Refs) it is described as 'Northern Hungary, early 18th century'.
A similarly decorated dish is seen in fig.32. This dish bears a different name and thus suggests that the names on these plates are not of potters' names but of those who commissioned the plates.
Historical context
Described as 'Habaner ware'.
