Dish of tin-glazed earthenware painted in colours, depicting the death of Lucretia in an architectural setting and with a landscape in the background. A piece of the foot is missing. Some cracks and rim-chips.

Object history
Salting Bequest, formerly Piot and Spitzer collections. This piece is clearly the one described in the Leon Becher sale, Paris, 10-12 January 1853. (Catalogue Found by Aileen Dawson in Paris and communicated by Tim Wilson, 1988). Sale catalogue of M Badouiller de Saint Seine, Paris, 15-17 April 1875, lot 45: 'Fabrique d'Urbino. Coupe a pied bas representent Lucrace d'apres la gravure de Marc-Antoine. Vente Piot. Diam 28 cent.' (Information from Mr Norman of Wallace Collection in letter of 26.1.65).
